I wanted to come back to the idea of “togetherness”, where I left off on the last blog entry and found that it was hard to explain by typing what I meant with adjusted features and limiting some options. Because of that I decided to make the following video instead and actually show you what I mean.

Enjoy the video!

It’s been a while since I posted. A lot has happened. Hardline has fallen off the radar. Battlefront is chugging along. I hear it’s doing rather well, even though I don’t really know anyone that is playing it myself. The biggest thing though is the ramp up of Battlefield 5 coming soon. The last time I recall there was going to be some type of Battlefield released in October. Further evidence that Battlefield 5 is rapidly approaching is the confirmation that Battlefield 4 support has come to an end. Well, no new content. As long as BF4 has been released, it had a very long run. Only took two years to stabilize the game. Two years and another dev team, a CTE system, and a lot of testing and revamping. But I’m not here to talk about the past. No. I’m here to talk about the very near future.

Battlefield Hardline has now been out for just over three months. It was released March 17th, 2015 and was a game that I thought was a bit fun and enjoyable, but was not something I was going to pick up because it did not have that perfect feeling in the beta that I said had to be there for me to purchase. Being burned on the issues with the Frostbite engine three times already, I decided to wait. In that three month time period a patch has been released as well as the first DLC, that is except for on PC due to issues. The game has gone on sale two times that I know of and the last time was at the price point that I said would be reasonable, which is $30. I did not pick it up, however, due to one thing….player count. (more…)

That is correct. The last downloadable content for Battlefield 4, called Final Stand, is going to destroy the Battlefield franchise. Origin didn’t do it. Battlelog didn’t do it. Going to the Frostbite engine didn’t do it. Even the terrible release and horrid state of Battlefield 4 itself did not do it. So what did it? The DLC that has pieces of the beginning of 2142 in it. That’s right. Sci-Fi killed Battlefield.

So we have now come full circle. Battlefield 2142 was released in 2006 and we approaching the 10 year anniversary of the futuristic shooter. Since Battlefield 3, DICE has been hinting of another 2142 style Battlefield game. A game once again set up well into the future where global warming/cooling has collapsed countries and humanity has to fight for what land is left. Where hover tanks, battle walkers, and huge floating warships, called Titans, rule the battlefield. (more…)

The last few weeks, as well as the last few years, the article where DICE mentions “We’ll never charge for DLC…” statement has come up when it comes to free content in games. You all know I have pretty much focused on Battlefield and I will here in this article as well, but I will also be covering DLC in general and my thoughts on it and the industry.

You may not agree with everything I have to say on this topic and that is OK, but hopefully you will look through everything I have mentioned and see why I stand where I do.
