I pre-ordered Battlefield 5, or V if you want to run along with the stupid roman numeral idea, right after the alpha testing. It was very strange to do that so early because the last game I pre-ordered was BF4 and that was a total disaster after release day and I never pre-ordered a Battlefield game before or since. Though the alpha had it’s flaws I saw so much more in this Battlefield game that I haven’t seen in a long, long time.

What Can Improve the Next Battlefield?

It’s been a while since I posted. A lot has happened. Hardline has fallen off the radar. Battlefront is chugging along. I hear it’s doing rather well, even though I don’t really know anyone that is playing it myself. The biggest thing though is the ramp up of Battlefield 5 coming soon. The last time I recall there was going to be some type of Battlefield released in October. Further evidence that Battlefield 5 is rapidly approaching is the confirmation that Battlefield 4 support has come to an end. Well, no new content. As long as BF4 has been released, it had a very long run. Only took two years to stabilize the game. Two years and another dev team, a CTE system, and a lot of testing and revamping. But I’m not here to talk about the past. No. I’m here to talk about the very near future.
Part 2 – Rated M for SHUT UP AND DEAL WITH IT!

So it is time for part two of the “Rated M for Mature” discussion that I was going on about; the swear filter.
It is funny how much controversy a feature has that does not affect anyone other than those that turn it on, but there are a lot of people against it for very strange reasons. I can sort of understand some of their arguments and because of that I am doing this blog post a little different. I decided I am going to approach this as a Q&A for the swear filter system and why. All the questions/statements that I will be answering are REAL and have been made in the past for the times that I have asked DICE for a swear filter.
So lets just jump into it:
Rated M for Mature…

I have been wanting to write about this topic for some time and just never felt the urge to do so until the other day. This happened to go well with a video I wanted to make about a Battlefield 4 player, ANYOLJOE, that I’ve ran into several times while playing, all with the exact same results. What I am wanting to write about is swearing in a military shooter.
There are a number of different views on the topic and you would think it would be pretty straight forward. Most FPS games are rated M and soldiers in real life swear, so case closed. There should be swearing in the game. The issue I have with it though isn’t on the game side of things, but the player side.
Battlefield 4 Final Stand DLC to Destroy Battlefield Franchise!

That is correct. The last downloadable content for Battlefield 4, called Final Stand, is going to destroy the Battlefield franchise. Origin didn’t do it. Battlelog didn’t do it. Going to the Frostbite engine didn’t do it. Even the terrible release and horrid state of Battlefield 4 itself did not do it. So what did it? The DLC that has pieces of the beginning of 2142 in it. That’s right. Sci-Fi killed Battlefield.
So we have now come full circle. Battlefield 2142 was released in 2006 and we approaching the 10 year anniversary of the futuristic shooter. Since Battlefield 3, DICE has been hinting of another 2142 style Battlefield game. A game once again set up well into the future where global warming/cooling has collapsed countries and humanity has to fight for what land is left. Where hover tanks, battle walkers, and huge floating warships, called Titans, rule the battlefield. (more…)
How Field Upgrades Should be for Battlefield 4

On first hearing about Field Upgrades for Battlefield many thought there should be some changes and adjustments to the system. Last week DICE released a patch that actually fixed the Field Upgrade system correcting the bugs that would break the upgrade levels when moving to the next round as well as progression in the system itself. ThisĀ update had me looking at the upgrade options again to see what “perks” did what as I have forgotten what my choices where. Like many that play Battlefield 4, I had forgotten because there is only one Field Upgrade to really use 3/4ths the time. I decided to post my changes and why while only working with what DICE already has in place. Some people like to invent some different options, but theory is not always as sound as what has been used in practice.
